Why shop in-store?

If you are in the St. John's area, visiting the store is often the fastest way to obtain everything you need and get answers to all your course materials questions.

  1. Support Local - The Bookstore employs students, makes regular donations, and is an active sponsor of various programs and campus improvements. Our revenue goes right back into the community that we serve.
  2. One-Stop Shopping - We stock all of the titles you’ll need for every course, in various formats when available,  so there’s no guesswork and no shopping around! Don’t waste time waiting for a package to arrive, not to mention the extra cost of shipping charges. Take your book home the same day!
  3. Friendly & Helpful Service - Our top priority is our students. We will work with you to find what you need as quickly and as easily as possible. We’re just a phone call, email, or a short walk away. Reach out though our Contact page and we will be happy to help you!

Why shop online?

Ordering online is available 24/7, all throughout the year. You can choose to have your orders shipped directly to your home (shipping rates apply) or visit the store and pick up your order. Picking up your order is free of charge and the fastest way to get your item(s). Just select "Pick-up in store" when checking out.

Even if you prefer to shop in-store, it is a good idea to check the website first to ensure the item(s) you are looking for are in stock. Although some low quantities could sell out by the time you arrive at the store.

Our store hours are listed on our website. During certain times of the year (like the beginning of the semester) our hours might be extended. Our website and social media is the best way to stay up-to-date on store closures and extended hours, so make sure you're following us and sign up for our mailing list!

Picking up an order

If you want to pick up your order, please wait for an email stating "Order Ready for Pickup" (this is NOT the first email you receive when you place your order! It will come separately, once we've processed your order). Once you receive that email, proceed to the Bookstore. Check our website and social media for our hours of operation and information on where online orders are being picked up.

During certain times of the year, like the beginning of the semester, the Bookstore Web Order Pick-Up Window is open on the 1st floor of the University Centre. All other times, your order will be waiting for you in-store (UC-2006). When you arrive to pick up your order, make sure you have 2 things:

  1. Your order number - this will be listed in your "Order Ready for Pick-up" email.

  2. A piece of ID with your name on it - the name needs to match the name on the order.

We want to make sure we're not giving away items you paid for to someone else! If you need someone else to pick up your order, just respond to our email and let us know the name of the person doing the pickup.

Ordering a Campus Card

To order a Memorial University Campus Card, head over to our Campus Card and Locker Rentals page for more information. Campus Cards are ordered through Ancillary Services and picked up at the Bookstore. We DO NOT print Campus Cards in store. For questions regarding Campus Cards, please email campuscard@mun.ca.

Remote vs Online Courses

Remote Courses

Remote courses are face-to-face courses that have been adapted to be delivered at a distance in times of disruption when students and instructors cannot meet on campus. The instructor may decide to use online tools, including Brightspace, to replace face-to-face instruction; course activities and materials may also be modified accordingly. Students may be asked to join the instructor and classmates online at specific points in the term as a replacement for face-to-face meetings and discussions.

When choosing a campus in textbook search, if the course you are taking is in-person on the St. John's Campus, please choose “St. John's Campus/Remote” (course section numbers begin with 001-059).

Online Courses

Online courses have been carefully designed to be delivered entirely over the internet using course sites in Brightspace. The course sites often include customized videos, interactive components and resources that help with learning the course content. Online courses are not self-paced; instructors post deadlines for work and expect students to keep up on reading and other activities required to successfully complete the course. Students may be asked to join the instructor and classmates online at specific points in the term. Students need to consider the technical requirements needed to fully participate in an online course.

If the course is offered online only, choose “Online Courses” (course section numbers begin with 081-129).
