Christopher Pratt was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He attended the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland, and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mount Allison University. Pratt was the first curator of the Memorial University Art Gallery, and after leaving that position, his first solo exhibition was held at the university’s gallery in 1965. Pratt received an honorary degree from Memorial in 1972. He designed the provincial flag of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1980. His art has been exhibited across Canada and internationally, and his work is included in private and public collections. Christopher Pratt is considered one of Canada’s greatest painters. His work is celebrated for its meticulous precision and austerity.
