Chesley Flowers was born in Flowers Bay, Labrador. He moved to Hopedale in 1949 and lived there for most of his life. He worked as a fisherman, hunter, trapper, and boat builder. When he first started carving, Flowers would sell his sculptures for a dollar each. His work has since been exhibited across Canada and is included in public and private collections.
