Anne Meredith Barry was born in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1954. After first visiting Newfoundland in 1971, Barry returned to the province regularly to paint and to oer workshops through Memorial University’s Extension Services. In 1986, Barry moved to Newfoundland permanently. She received an honorary degree from Memorial University in 1998. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in private and public collections. Anne Meredith Barry’s art is known for consistently engaging with the beautiful and sublime aspects of the Newfoundland landscape.
